Entry to our museum is £3 for adults, and free for children.

We also have a Virtual Visit page with a variety of interactive content, as well as Lucius’ Challenge children’s activities

Accessibility

To enter the building there are three stone steps with handrails in place, and we are currently unable to provide access for wheelchairs and large prams.

Malton Museum consists of two exhibition rooms and an entrance lobby, all on the same level.

A large-print version of the exhibition text and captions is available from our Welcome Desk.

Please note that there are no toilet facilities on site; the nearest public toilets are in the Market Place.

Malton Museum is fully committed to the safeguarding of all visitors, staff, trustees, and volunteers – including children, young people, or vulnerable adults – while on-site or when using our services.

Safeguarding action is taken to protect children and vulnerable adults from harm, and Malton Museum has a comprehensive Safeguarding Policy in place and a Designated Safeguarding Office.

Any concern raised will be taken seriously and handled sensitively following our Policy.

Getting here by public transport

Malton Museum is about a 5-minute walk from Malton’s bus and railway stations. Walk to the top of Railway Street, then turn left onto Yorkersgate – we are less than 200 metres/yards along on the right.

By Train:

Malton railway station is on the line between York and Scarborough, with hourly services in both directions.

By Bus:

Coastliner routes between Leeds/York, Whitby and Scarborough will take you to Malton Bus Station.

Getting here by car

The nearest car park is on Navigation Wharf – directions on Google Maps

SatNav users – Malton Museum’s postcode is YO17 7AB, but please note that the museum does not have a car park.

There are several car parks in Malton and Norton, some are free and others are Pay & Display; check Parkopedia for current details.

Taking A64 from York:

Take the signposted exit sliproad to Malton, head along York Road, passing the industrial estate on your right and continue towards the town centre.

Coming from Scarborough / Pickering:

Follow signposts towards Malton – at the A64/A169 roundabout, take the B1257 exit towards Malton, head through Old Malton and continue on towards Malton town centre.
