Collecting Memories Friday 9th Feb at 10.30pm - 1pm at Malton Library

On Friday 9th February, representatives from Malton Museum will be holding a drop-in session at Malton Library in search of help for their ongoing community oral history project ‘Malton Memories’. As part of this heritage lottery funded project, the museum has been collecting memories of Malton’s recent history from both local people and visitors, in order to present a vision of the town and surrounding area through the eyes of those who know it best.

Do you remember evenings out at the old cinema? Did you work at Bowers? What are your market-day memories? If you have got tales to tell of Malton in times gone by, then we would love to hear from you! We are looking for submissions of ideally around half a page of A4 which may be included as part of the project. We are collecting memories on a wide array of subjects so if you have something that you think you could contribute, no matter how small or obscure, please get in touch!

All memories gathered from the event will be vital contributions to the project, and we are extremely grateful to all those who have already contributed. Next week we are hosting an open session in the library where staff from the museum will be on hand to talk to you about your memories of Malton. Please do come along, it would be fantastic to chat with you and hear some of your fascinating memories of the town. If you are unable to make this date but would still like to get involved, don’t worry! Please contact the museum directly on [email protected], or call us on 01653 691262 and we will be more than happy to talk to you. Hope to see you there!
