Through Fire and Flames: The History of Malton’s Fire Brigade
Thursday 6th July at 7.00 pm
£5.00 per person
Ian Orledge has been an On-Call Firefighter at Malton for 10 years. In 2018 Ian started to research the history of Malton Fire Station. Having amassed a fascinating collection of photographs, newspaper reports and artefacts, along with the memories of local people, he is currently writing a book.
From Malton’s first steam powered fire engine, through the nationalisation of the Fire Service during the second world war, to profiles of Firefighters that have served our town in the past, Ian will take us on a journey ‘Through Fire and Flames’.
Meeting point
The lecture will be held in the assembly rooms above Malton Museum
Malton Museum, 36 Yorkersgate, Malton, YO17 7AB
